Permissions, explained
These come from the extension’s manifest. SpecMiru has no access to all websites at install.
| Permission | Why SpecMiru needs it |
|---|---|
| activeTab | Temporary access to the tab you explicitly invoke SpecMiru on (icon or shortcut). Also allows a capture after you click Capture. |
| scripting | Injects SpecMiru’s own local inspector into that page, only after you activate it. |
| sidePanel | Shows SpecMiru in Chrome’s side panel in Docked mode. |
| storage | Keeps your preferences and the current, cleaned selection of each tab. No browsing history. |
| https://eu.i.posthog.com/* | Only used if you opt in to anonymous usage statistics (beta). Never used for page content. |
Troubleshooting
- “Chrome protects this page”
- chrome:// pages, Chrome settings and the Chrome Web Store cannot be inspected by any extension. Open a regular website.
- “Inspection unavailable”
- Click the SpecMiru icon on the page itself: this is what grants SpecMiru temporary access to that tab.
- Overlay isn’t available on this page
- Switch to Docked mode from the panel header, or open SpecMiru from the toolbar icon.
- The shortcut does nothing
- Another extension may use Alt+Shift+S. Check or change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
- A frame can’t be entered
- Content inside a cross-origin frame is protected by the browser. Open the frame’s page directly to inspect it.
