Display modes
Overlay floats above the page; Docked uses Chrome's side panel.
SpecMiru can be displayed in two ways. Switch with the Overlay / Docked control in the panel header; your choice is remembered, and the current selection and screen are kept when you switch.
Overlay (default)
SpecMiru floats above the page in an isolated extension panel.
- The page keeps its width and breakpoints — what you inspect is what your visitors see.
- Move it left or right, collapse it, or resize it from 320 to 720 px (mouse or arrow keys).
- During inspection, measuring, framing or capture, the panel steps aside to free the page, then comes back with your selection. It is hidden during every screenshot.
Overlay is not available on some pages; use Docked there.
Docked
SpecMiru opens in Chrome's side panel, next to the page. The page becomes narrower, which can change its responsive layout.
Isolation
In Overlay mode the panel runs in an extension frame inside a closed Shadow DOM: the page's CSS cannot reach the panel and vice versa, and the page cannot talk to SpecMiru.
