Privacy
What SpecMiru keeps local, what it can send, and only with your consent.
SpecMiru is local-first. Inspection runs in your browser, and inspected content never leaves your device.
Always local
- DOM, HTML, page text, selectors
- Captured styles, colors and fonts
- URLs of inspected pages
- Screenshots and assets
- Your AI instructions and copied context
- Form values (never even read)
Only with your explicit consent
Anonymous usage statistics (beta)
Off by default. You can accept from a card on the home screen or in Settings › Privacy, and turn it off at any time — declining never degrades any feature.
When on, SpecMiru sends predefined product events only (for example “section opened” or “export copied”), with enumerated properties and size ranges — never the content, a URL, text, a capture or an asset. A random installation identifier is created at that moment; turning statistics off deletes it and the local queue. Events go to PostHog Cloud (EU).
These statistics are pseudonymous (a random identifier, no account). As with any HTTP request, the network address of your device is visible at the transport level to the receiving service; SpecMiru does not add it to events.
Feedback you choose to send
The Help & feedback menu sends only what you write. A bug report attaches nothing by default: the technical diagnostic, the page URL (origin and path only) and a screenshot each have their own switch, all off. See the privacy policy.
Stored on your device
chrome.storage.local: your preferences (theme, language, inspect mode, display mode, overlay side and width), and — only after consent — the statistics status and installation identifier.chrome.storage.session: one cleaned selection per tab, cleared when you navigate, close the tab or clear it.
Permissions
activeTab, scripting, sidePanel, storage, and one host permission for the statistics endpoint. No access to all websites at install. Details on the Install page.
